Academy (Hagwon)
The JLS CHESS program was designed exclusively for elementary students grade 1 through 6. The CHESS classes are taught by both Native and Korean teachers at separate times, the primary role for Native teachers is to teach speaking. CHESS classes begin in the afternoon once students have finished their studies at public elementary schools.
Other Positions

JLS manages local government English Centers. English centers use a combination of CHESS and CHESSPlus curriculum along with English Village theme-based activity classes. Each center has a different education program, teachers can expect a dynamic working environment. Teachers working at these centers can teach students anywhere from Kindergarten-Adults.

What are JLS working conditions and compensation?
We respect our teachers and consider their professionalism an important component of our corporation. Depending on the teacher’s position, a monthly compensation increase for the new contractual year may be determined based upon the teacher's renewal evaluation.
JLS teachers have a choice to accept a company funded apartment or receive a 550,000 ~ 700,000 Won housing allowance if they already have their own living accommodations. If teachers choose to take company housing a single apartment will be provided. We respect your individual privacy and do our best to find the best available apartments near the school at which the teacher is working.
How does JLS treat their teachers?
JLS values our teachers and we believe in treating our teachers with honesty and respect. To honor this philosophy JLS has created policies that promise not to withhold payment for hours worked, make unexplained deductions from your salary, send you to work at a non-JIS institute, make excuses for not paying on time as we ALWAYS pay on time, "forget” to provide you with health insurance and pension, or withhold your bonus upon completion of your contract. We abide by our contract and we abide by Korean immigration laws. We are a large publicly traded corporation and we consider our reputation a long-term investment. Our management and staff are courteous, helpful, and professional; no one will yell at you or threaten you because we regard this behavior as unprofessional and unnecessary.
